Perspective Drawings

Perspective Drawings allow us to see an object from a particular viewpoint. When we draw in Perspective, we draw objects as they appear to be. The closer an object is to us, the larger it will appear to be and the further away it is the smaller it looks. This can be seen in the picture of the street shown below. This view is known as One Point Perspective beacuse all the lines gradually meet at a single point. This point is known as the Vanishing Point. One Point is the simplest type of perspective and is often thought of as a 'Flat' view. Depth cannot easily be measured and generally has to be estimated.

Two Point Perspective is another popular type of drawing. As you can see in the image below, this perspective makes use of two Vanishing Points. Vanishing Points are always located on a horizontal line which is drawn at Eye Level - this is know as the Horizon Line.
